Pick-and-place terms across brands

Every maker names the same things differently. This table lines them up so an operator moving between machines, or a lead writing one setup sheet for a mixed floor, can see what each brand calls its feeders, nozzles, heads and vision. 462 names, 398 straight from maker documents, every one with its source on the machine’s guide.

Placement settings explained

The ⚙ button on each row of the machine setup sheet holds these settings per package, per machine. Use the values from your machine software; leave blank to keep the machine’s defaults.

CenteringHow the machine finds the part’s true center and angle after picking: a camera (vision), a laser, or for old machines a mechanical jaw. Large and fine-pitch parts usually need a fixed upward camera; small chips are centered on the fly.
SpeedHow fast the head moves and the nozzle comes down. Slow it for tall, heavy, odd-form and fine-pitch parts so they don’t shift on the nozzle.
Pick height offsetAdjusts how far the nozzle goes into the tape pocket. Too high and it misses the part; too deep and it presses on the tape or cracks a chip.
Place height offsetAdjusts how far the nozzle goes down at placement. Machines that measure board warp or part height adjust this automatically.
Placement forceHow hard the part is pressed into the paste. Fragile parts (crystals, MEMS, LEDs with lenses) need low force; connectors and press-fit parts need more.
Vacuum checkConfirms the part is on the nozzle after pick and gone after place. Turn it off only for parts that seal poorly, and only with a reason.
