PnP Toolkit for Universal Instruments: setup, terms and part programming
Universal Instruments’ Fuzion platforms are flexible placement machines for a wide range of part sizes. PnP Toolkit is an independent operator app: pick Universal Instruments once and it uses Universal Instruments words for nozzles and feeders, keeps a setup sheet for your Universal Instruments machine, and points you to Fuzion software / Dimensions for the program.
What changes when you pick Universal Instruments
| Pick-up word | Nozzle |
|---|---|
| Feeder word | Feeder |
| Programming software named in the app | Fuzion software / Dimensions |
| Models in the picker |
|
| Setup sheet | Separate rows for each machine, so a shop with several brands keeps them apart |
Your model not listed? Type it in the picker. The terms above apply to all Universal Instruments models.
Set it up in four steps
- Open the app on the phone or line PC at pnptoolkit.app. It opens with Universal Instruments selected; pick your model.
- Fill in the machine setup sheet: the nozzle and feeder you use for each package. Scan your existing setup sheet to save typing.
- Share the team file so every operator on this Universal Instruments has the same choices (how).
- Add it to the home screen so it opens like any other app, and works offline.
Programming a new part on Universal Instruments
- Find the part in the library, or scan its label or product page.
- If it is new, type the drawing numbers into the QFN decoder. Check the warnings and the to-scale drawing.
- Type the nominal numbers into Fuzion software / Dimensions. Use the rotation helper if pin 1 on the tape doesn’t match the CAD.
- Before the run, build the kitting list and load-check every reel into its feeder.
Part categories and part numbers for Universal Instruments
All 179 library entries work the same on every machine. Tape widths below tell you which feeder sizes to have ready.
Universal feeders, nozzles and settings
The names below are what PnP Toolkit offers in the setup sheet pick lists when you pick Universal Instruments. Each one links to the maker document (or, where marked, the supplier catalog) it came from. Models and options vary, so always match the name printed on your own nozzle or feeder. Compare the same thing across brands in pick-and-place terms across brands.
