QFN, DFN and LGA packages
Leadless packages with the pads under the body and, usually, a big exposed pad in the middle. They are the parts most often programmed wrong, because the drawing is on page 40, it shows the bottom, and every number has a min, nom and max.
The numbers you program
- Body D × E and height A
- Pitch e
- Lead (pad) width b and length L
- Number of leads N, and per side if the body is not square
- Exposed pad D2 × E2
- Pin 1 corner and which view the drawing is
Mistakes to watch
- Reading a bottom-view drawing as if it were the top view, so pin 1 ends up mirrored
- Typing mils into a millimeter field
- Building a HotRod or flip-chip part as a normal QFN
- Leads so wide for the pitch that they bridge
Each of these has a check in PnP Toolkit. See the test results on the proof page.
